SOFTWARE TESTING

There was time, when I found out about Selenium IDE, simple add-on for Firefox and used it for a while. Had issues with long tests, questions splitting workflow into some pieces, manage page loads, introduce sleeps..  Cool thing for manual tester.  Then webdriver was introduced, IDE was considered a bad thing in my group :) Starting working in new project and still having only few screens with mocked data for a few weeks. That means re-clicking every button for regression, or giving health-check clicks that both environments are still ok  or  are again ok to use. To set up custom project with web-driver seemed too many efforts - and the selenium is so cool again! Half an hour of work (ok, maybe an hour) and clicking buttons for me in  slow run mode :)

Adding Gremlin  to my TODO list to install and explore. Colleague was happy about its non stop clicking abilities :)

How to test web services? the only answer i know at the moment - use SoapUI. An open-source GUI for easily creating and firing off SOAP requests. You need: to feed the WSDL - entering the url, the program creates sample SOAP requests for you; you edit those in a simple XML editor; send it to see the response. (For today, have not got the proper response. The database needs to be changed. Will see the results later)

feeling a wish to find out more about software for bug tracking. was not thinking, that there is also a term "defect tracking", and some other. anyway, thinking about doing some kind of research on the soft what is shown in the net. would be interesting to see how many developers could be found, what are the main functions etc. created a blog to list all bug tracking software, although feeling too lazy to do something today...

Was reading a litle bit on the net on software testing. This is the term in general. I thought i was working as a tester, now as i see more resources, seems i was more like a bug tracker. We were not testing the system - that were the developers doing. me and others in our department were just recieving pieces of code, installing and imitating user's behaviour to find the bug - the mistakes as we used to call. in this, i would call bug tracking a lower and more narrow field of software testing. we were not using any bug tracking software, except for the one where to register all bugs. first one was from professional developers, where the bug description and its history were kept. then our developers prepare a great software for our company inner needs - task management. we would register the bug and assign the task for the chief programmer. he used to give it to a certain developper to fix it. then we test it and close the task as done if everything was fine. what is interesting, t...
