A few weeks ago received a call from recruitment company, were asking about my thoughts and interests on software testing. Bentley Lithuania are looking for a few people - software project manager, software requirements analyst, seniour software engineer and of course - software test engineer. received a link to hanu software by email, requesting to exchange links. i link from my blog to their page, that can not be accessed form the main webpage. read the website very carefully, because it was very difficult to understand what they are doing. at the end understood, that the term offshore mixed with franchise :) so, they have blog on offshore software development, guess it also includes software testing. liked the resources software testing services - the list with links was really long and rich.

In our department there were no testing theory, certificates, etc. the new comers had to read some program descriptions, do a test of data entry and then started testing the new features of the program, or the things that were changed. they call it extreme programming. so, decided to have a look at the web, what it is Regression testing. and - was a litle bit surprised. seems almost all the time we had been doing the Regression testing.

by accident received by email one job description for software testing in ireland and the salary there was 65000euro for a year. and that is 20 times more than i have been getting at my workplace. have never thought about going work abroad, but when the difference is so big, the doubts come. well, had some research on the net, the salaries in average are about 35, not 65 :) well, 10 times... and here, it is a very interesting research for automated testing in nothern ireland. they have collected data on software vendors, salaries, related skills, appliction platforms and development, databases, processes & methodologies. very very interesting.

ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Software Testing is for experienced testing practitioners. This certificate demonstrates a depth of knowledge of testing topics and the ability to perform testing activities in practice. The main entry requirements are: candidates must hold the Foundation Certificate in Software Testing and either have at least 18 months experience in Software Testing or have completed an ISEB accredited practitioner training course. Without standard charges , the fee is 225.00 UK pounds. Not very cheap. The exam itself is longer than for Foundation certificate: one three-hour examination with questions requiring narrative/essay style answers. Have not written in Foundation certificate post, will mention here the training providers who should be contacted for furhter details and training...
